Halifax – Meeting Rooms

We have six meeting rooms available all with their own individual look and feel. Each of our meeting rooms has been named after University alumni.


Middleton

Middleton is one of the largest rooms in Halifax with access directly on to the grounds and patio area, lending excellent natural daylight to the room. There is access through to the Johnson room – offering ideal syndicate space.

Middleton is named after Sir Peter Middleton, Chancellor of The University of Sheffield and Chairman of Camelot.

Middleton is able to hold the following capacities:

  • 110 theatre style
  • 45 boardroom style
  • 42 cabaret style
  • 35 U shape without tables
  • 30 U shape with tables
  • 40 classroom style

Barnes

Barnes also offers direct access on to the grounds and patio area which creates great natural daylight. Many original features still line Barnes including a charming fireplace.

Barnes is named after Carol Barnes, newsreader for ITV for nearly 30 years.

Barnes is able to hold the following capacities:

  • 35 theatre style
  • 12 boardroom style
  • 24 cabaret style
  • 16 U shape without tables
  • 12 U shape with tables
  • 12 classroom style

Sharman

Sharman is fully air-conditioned and a good sized room making it ideal for exhibition space. Includes a full AV system.

Sharman is named after Helen Sharman, Britain’s first astronaut who visited space in 1991.

Sharman is able to hold the following capacities:

  • 120 theatre style
  • 50 boardroom style
  • 72 cabaret style
  • 35 U shape without tables
  • 30 U shape with tables
  • 24 classroom style

Johnson

Johnson offers reams of natural daylight and boasts many of its original features, adding a distinct charm to the room.

Johnson is named after Amy Johnson, pioneering aviator of the 1930s and the first woman to fly alone from England to Australia.

Johnson is able to hold the following capacities:

  • 45 theatre style
  • 18 boardroom style
  • 24 cabaret style
  • 20 U shape without tables
  • 16 U shape with tables
  • 16 classroom style

Ennis

Ennis has its original sash windows and cornicing, boasting a fixed screen and excellent natural daylight.

Ennis is named after Jessica Ennis, the British Heptathlete and World Championship Gold Medalist 2009.

Ennis is able to hold the following capacities:

  • 50 theatre style
  • 16 boardroom style
  • 20 U shape without tables
  • 16 U shape with tables
  • 16 classroom style

Daldry

Daldry is the ideal size for smaller meetings and boasts its original bookcase. As with the other rooms in the Halifax building, the Daldry room also offers excellent natural daylight.

Daldry is named after Stephen Daldry, CBE who has directed films such as Billy Elliot and The Hours.

Daldry is able to offer:

  • 10 boardroom style
